Ell-Saline Update - May 2023
As the academic year comes to a close, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many positive changes that have taken place in our district. Our students, faculty, and staff have continued to excel in academics, athletics, and fine arts, and we have also made several significant improvements to our facilities.
During the past five years, we have invested in our transportation fleet, adding three new 71 passenger buses. These buses have helped us provide safer and more reliable transportation for our students, ensuring they arrive at school and home safely each day. At the May Board of Education Meeting the School Board voted to add a new 35 passenger bus continuing our dedication to the safe transportation of our students.
In 2019, we installed air conditioning in the main gym at the Middle/High School, providing a more comfortable and safe environment for our athletes and spectators during the hot summer months. Last year we added new sidewalks, aluminum bleachers at our athletic stadiums and new LED lights with steel poles, improving safety and comfort for all those who attend our games and events.
Looking forward, we have several exciting projects planned. We are excited to announce that we will be making significant upgrades to our athletic facilities this summer, with construction of a new track, new fencing, and a new digital football scoreboard. These upgrades represent a significant investment in our athletic programs and will help our student-athletes continue to excel on and off the field. We would like to thank the Brookville Community Foundation and all the donors that have made the scoreboard addition possible. We are extremely thankful for the support from our community toward our district.
We are currently working to prepare a request for proposals toward remodeling the science labs at the middle/high school, bringing them up to date with the latest technology and equipment. The plan is to have this project completed by August 2024. This upgrade will provide a cutting-edge environment for our students to explore and learn, helping them prepare for future success in science and technology fields.
We are also planning to remodel the elementary school playground in the near future, creating an engaging play area for our youngest students. This project will ensure our students can participate in physical activity and play, fostering creativity, physical activity, and fun for our elementary students.
Our commitment to providing the highest quality education to our students extends to our faculty and staff as well. We are dedicated to hiring and retaining the best teachers, support staff, and administrators to ensure that our students receive the best possible education and support.
This past year, we were able to hire several new teachers and we are pleased to announce that we have a full staff hired for next year. This means that we will have the resources necessary to support our students and provide them with the individualized attention they need to succeed.
We believe that our teachers are the heart of our district, and we are committed to providing them with the training and resources they need to excel in their roles. Our teachers are passionate about their work and are dedicated to helping our students achieve their full potential.
We are proud to have such a talented and dedicated team of educators, and we will continue to support them in their efforts to provide the highest quality education to our students. Our faculty and staff are the driving force behind our district's success, and we are grateful for their hard work and dedication.
At Ell-Saline, we are committed to providing our students with the best possible education, and that includes ensuring that our curriculum is up-to-date and aligned with the latest standards and best practices.
Over the past few years, we have made significant investments in our curriculum, including purchasing new math curriculum two years ago and new ELA curriculum last year. These new resources have provided our teachers with the tools they need to help our students succeed.
Looking forward, we are excited to announce that we will be purchasing new science curriculum for the 2023-2024 school year. This new curriculum will provide our teachers with the latest research and best practices in science education, helping them to create engaging and effective lessons that inspire our students to explore and learn.
We believe that investing in our curriculum is an investment in our students' future. By providing them with the best possible resources, we can help them to develop the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.
We are proud of the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, and staff, and we are grateful for the support of our parents, guardians, and community members. Together, we can continue to create a positive and thriving community that prepares our students for a successful future.
Have a great summer!
