Ducks, Chickens, and Geese!

2nd grade classrooms had special visitors today...ducks, geese, and chickens!

Ducks, geese, and chickens are all domesticated birds that share similarities in their poultry nature. However, there are several differences among them. Ducks and geese are more closely related to each other than to chickens, with ducks having a broader, flatter beak adapted for dabbling in water, while chickens have a more tapered beak. Geese and ducks are generally larger than chickens, with geese being the largest of the three. Additionally, ducks and geese have webbed feet, which are well adapted for swimming in water, while chickens have clawed feet, better suited for scratching the ground in search of food.
