Author Lindsay Metcalf visits ESE!
We were honored to welcome published author Lindsay H. Metcalf to Ell-Saline last week! Lindsay is a children's author and former journalist who grew up on a Kansas farm. She writes nonfiction picture books and poetry collections that highlight activism, history, science, and rural life. Her acclaimed works include Beatrix Potter, Scientist, Farmers Unite!, and No Voice Too Small: Fourteen Young Americans Making History. Drawing from her journalism background, Lindsay brings true stories to life, inspiring young readers to make a difference. She currently lives with her family in Kansas, enjoying the rhythms of farm life.
During her visit, Lindsay shared the powerful story behind the American Agriculture Movement, when farmers drove their tractors to Washington, D.C., in 1979 to protest unfair crop prices. While reporters at the time focused on the spectacle of traffic jams, Lindsay's research uncovers the deeper story — the farmers’ message of hardship, resilience, and hope that they worked so hard to bring to the nation’s attention.
