Scholarship for Middle Schoolers
Attention 6th–8th Grade Students!
The 2026–20267 VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest is now open! This national writing competition gives middle school students the chance to share their voices on this year’s theme:
β¨ “What a Veteran taught me about America?” β¨
π What you need to know:
- Write an essay between 300–400 words.
- Essays are judged on:
- Knowledge of the theme (30 pts)
- Theme development (35 pts)
- Clarity of ideas (35 pts)
- Deadline: October 31.
- Winners can advance from local to state and even national levels. The grand prize is $5,000!
