HOA Track Championship Results

Women Place Fourth--Men Place Sixth

       The Ell-Saline Lady Cards scored 47 points to claim fourth place at the Heart of America (HOA) Championship Track meet on May 15, 2009. Sophomore Moriah Jones achieved a double win day with a new school record in the triple jump (36’, 10.5”) and first in the long jump (16’, 10”). Moriah finished third in both the 100 meter dash (13.13) and 200 meter dash (27.61). Senior Kate Armstrong led the field event scoring with a second in the discus (103’) and fifth in the shot put (33’, 1”). Senior Kailey Smith tossed the discus 93’, 7.25” to take fifth place. Freshman Audra Hughes ran the 3200 meter race in 14:32.36 to claim sixth place. The 4 X 800 meter relay team (Ayla Beaugh, Tasha Norwood, Bailey Base, Audra Hughes) ran a time of 11:20.99 to take fifth place.

       The boys’ team scored 32 points to claim sixth place out of the twelve HOA teams. Sophomore Daniel Ellis won the 1600 meter run (4:38.89) and finished second in the 800 meter run (2:04.01). Junior Tyler Schulz jumped 5’, 10” to place fifth in the high jump. Junior Michael Haverfield leaped 40’, 6.25” during the triple jump to take third place; Tyler Schulz went 39’, 2.75” for sixth place. Junior Cody Rietchek threw the javelin 132’, 6” to place sixth. The 4 X 800 meter relay team finished fifth with a time of 9:07.35 (Sebastian Baeza, Kyle Hughes, Cody Rietchek, Daniel Ellis). The 4 X 400 meter relay team also claimed fifth place in 3:39.82 (Sebastian Baeza, Michael Haverfield, Cody Rietchek, Daniel Ellis).
