MS Girls Win B Tournament

The Ell-Saline Girls basketball B team won a tournament hosted at Brookville on January 12th. They're celebrating by displaying a #1 finger in the above photo. Players include: (back row left to right) Richae Schrock, Darriane Wikoff, Taylor Albers, Kirsten Tremblay, Monika Grant, and manager Faith Rasmussen. The front row includes: (left to right) Coach Erin Marshall, Torey Goddard, Missy Wimer, Audra Hughes, Morgan Stillings, and Coach Dale Dodd.
The Lady Cardinals defeated Tescott in the first game by a score of 25 to 5. Seven players scored points: Wimer with six; Wikoff had five; both Albers and Goddard scored four; while Grant, Hughes, & Tremblay all put in two points. Coach Dodd commented: "The girls played as a team and did a great job of looking for the open player throughout this game."
Ell-Saline won the second game against Lincoln by a score of 27 to 17. Darriane Wikoff led all scorers with eight points; Missy Wimer put in seven; Torey Goddard made six points; Audra Hughes added four; and Taylor Albers scored two points. Dodd said, "Lincoln had very tall players and I was concerned whether we could play with them physically. Our girls showed the value of team work--all our hard work in practice paid off. We boxed out for rebounds and I was very pleased with our play."
The middle school basketball teams finish regular season play with two home games against Little River on January 24th and Sedgwick on January 28th.
