Mrs. Susan Nelson is in her 24th year of teaching at Ell-Saline MS/HS with 36 years in education. She is the Family and Consumer Science (FACS) and 7th grade math instructor.  She was the Registrar of Marymount College and also taught in Salina. 
Mrs. Nelson is the Family Career and Community Leaders of American (FCCLA) adviser and 7th grade class sponsor.  She is an adviser for the Saline County Youth Relay For Life and serves on the district Wellness committee. FACS classes create meals for the Ell-Saline Lions Club.  Her students also participate in many service projects including contributing pillows and lap quilts to the Wellness Tote Project. These are given to patients undergoing cancer treatments.  Donations of fabric, batting, and Polyfil for these projects are greatly appreciated!
Mrs. Nelson received a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics Extension and Education from Kansas State University.  Her Master’s degree is in Family Management, Housing and Consumer Science from Texas Tech University.  After many FHSU renewable energy graduate classes, Mrs. Nelson and Mr. Carazo wrote the grant and supervised the construction of the forty foot wind turbine located near the softball field.
She and her husband, Craig, have three children and three grandchildren.
