Mrs. Holmes has been involved in education since graduating from KSU.   She has been a part of the Ell-Saline district, starting in 1988, at the elementary building, and moving over to the ms/hs in 1992, in time to receive her Masters from KSU.

Mrs. Holmes has taught a variety of subjects, from ms art, science, social studies and hands-on-problem solving, to high school civics, science and world geography.  Along with her teaching duties, she has also coached high school basketball, volleyball and softball.  Mrs. Holmes joined the school improvement team in 1993, and held head chair from 1994 – 2013.  It was during this tenure on school improvement that she was a presenter at the state conference in Wichita from 2005 – 2012 and at the national conference in Chicago from 2010 – 2012.  Because of her knowledge and her expertise in school improvement Mrs. Holmes was awarded the M. Claradine Johnson Award for Educational Excellence in 2007 from AdvancEd.

Ell-Saline has been like a second home to Mrs. Holmes over the years, as she has spent over 30 years in the district.  She enjoys working with the staff and students alike.  Her main vision for all students is to be creative, strong critical thinkers, and often assigns projects to stretch “outside the box”.  She appreciates all the support and caring from the staff, including administration and classified staff.

Happily married for 26 years, to her husband Wallace, she has enjoyed raising their seven children, 22 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.   Her hobbies include watching football, golf, and listening to music. She and her husband plan to retire to the Nevada region to experience the hot, dry heat.  Soon, they will be traveling in their motorhome, with their three babies (the four-legged kind) and stopping to take in a golf match or two along the way.
