Isaac Hopkins
Instrumental Music Teacher

Dr. Isaac Hopkins is currently the 5-12 band director at Ell-Saline High School, Middle School, and Elementary school. He previously taught middle school band at St Martha Catholic Schools in Okemos, Michigan and was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Michigan State University. Additionally, he has taught as an adjunct instructor of music at Tabor College, McPherson College, and Central Christian College.

 

He received his Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music and Master of Music degrees in both Music Performance and Chamber Music from the University of Michigan. In 2022 he received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Michigan State University. In the summers of 2015 and 2016, he attended the Aspen Music Festival and School. Additionally, he has performed and taught music at various schools, music festivals, and events.

 

As a music performer, he was principal trumpet of the Adrian Symphony Orchestra and a full member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Previously, he was principal trumpet in the Wichita Grand Opera and second trumpet in the Salina Symphony Orchestra. He has performed as substitute trumpet with many renowned ensembles including the Grand Rapids Symphony, Ann Arbor Symphony, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, and Michigan Philharmonic.
