Salina Public Library

Mouse over the Virtual Library tab and choose the database you wish to use.  To access the databases on the Salina Public Library web site, you will have to enter your library number.

Access a wide variety of books, ebooks, audio & more, Research databases include   Consumer Reports.

 

The State Library of Kansas

Access to the State Library of Kansas is free to all Kansans.  If you are connecting from a computer in Kansas, you should not be asked for any log in information.  Occasionally the computer you are using will be in a location that is not recognized by the State system in which case you would be asked for your Kansas Library card information. 

If you do not have a Kansas library card, you can sign up for one free at your school or public library.

The Kansas State Library, in association with Blue Skyways of Kansas provides on-site and online information services for:

  •   state & local governments 
  •   other state agencies
  •   State legislators & legislative staff
  •   local libraries & their users
  •   Kansas citizens, residents & visitors

General Research offerings include:


  • Student Research Center: Browse or search topics from current events to art to math. Includes magazine and journal articles, biographies and images.
  • MasterFile Premier: Delivers magazine articles, reference books, and an extensive image collection for every subject area.
  • Academic Search Premier: Search for peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Middle Search Plus: articles, reference books, images, and more arranged for a Middle School.
  • Newspaper Source Plus: Research newspapers here!
  • Encyclopedia Britannica Online

Learning Modules offered free of charge include:

  • Mango: Courses in over 40 languages (basic & complete lessons available). Creating a username and password is optional, but doing so will allow you to pick up where you left off between learning sessions.  (There's even a mobile app!)
  • LearningExpress: Learning Centers by subject (up to college level), computer software tutorials, and practice tests for college and occupational exams and the GED. The Job & Career Accelerator section provides help with resumes, interview skills, and exploring occupations.  Registration required (can use your Kansas Library Card).

 

World Book Advanced

World Book access is available through the Kansas Library System.  You will click on Student Research Central for MS/HS or Research for Kids for Elementary level.
