2008-2009 Volunteer Opportunities

There are several different ways to become involved with CPTA throughout the school year. CPTA welcomes all volunteers with new ideas, new strategies and fresh faces. Reading through the list will give you an awareness of the opportunities you have to become involved in this wonderful organization.
Enrollment: This is at the beginning of August and volunteers are always needed to work at the CPTA table to help assist parents in signing up for the various volunteer opportunities that are available. Volunteer times can vary depending on your schedule.
School Supplies: This service is provided to the parents of the elementary students. Three to four volunteers will put together a flyer about the service and collect order information. The supplies are purchased, assembled and handed out at enrollment.
Carnival: This event is held in the fall. There are many opportunities to help out with this major event. We will need volunteers for; setting-up, running the games, baked goods, kitchen help, clean up, help with the raffle, and the list goes on! There are lots of great ways to show off your talents and support CPTA.
Monster Mash: This event is held in the fall. 2-3 Volunteers are needed to help coordinate the DJ for the evening and the flyers that will go out. Parents are usually asked to bring a dozen cookies as admission to the event. This event is for Ell-Saline Elementary students and younger siblings only. The evening of the event several volunteers are needed to help with cookie distribution and monitor students.
Fall Fundraiser: The money from this event is used to help out with the goals set by the CPTA. Volunteers are needed to coordinate the fundraiser chosen.
Read With Santa: This event is held in December and requires 2-3 volunteers. Come and see Santa and listen to his favorite story. You will even get an opportunity to have your picture taken with him. This is a great time to share with the whole family. Families are asked to bring a snack to share.
Skate Night: Come join the fun and put your roller skates on. This is a great way to have fun exercise time with family. Elementary students only please! We will need a volunteer to coordinate the dates with the skating rink and send home flyers.
Track Meet: The track meet is held at the high school in Brookville in the spring. Several volunteers are needed to coordinate the event and numerous volunteers are also needed the day of the event at registration, concession stand, and running the actual events. There are events for ages Preschool – 6th grade.
Teacher Appreciation Week: This is a week-long celebration in May that salutes our teachers for the incredible work they do. Numerous volunteers are needed to make this even possible.
Volleyball Camp: This event will be held during the summer for girls grades 2nd – 6th. This is an opportunity for basic skills to be taught. Several volunteers are needed to help during the camp.
Yearbook Team: This Team will work with the company that the CPTA has choosen to put together our annual elementary yearbook.
Classroom Communicators: This is the contact person for all classroom parties, coordinates teachers gifts, i.e. birthday gifts, teacher appreciation gifts, get well gifts, etc. and communicates classroom needs to CPTA. The classrooms celebrate three holidays throughout the year; Halloween, Christmas and Valentines Day.

Other School Event Volunteer Opportunities
Book Fair/Ice Cream Social: This event is in the fall and volunteers are needed to help set up/take down, check out, coordinating donated teacher books , “roaming help” to assist parents finding books, and help with the ice cream area. Most volunteers are needed for the actual night of the event. The profits from this event go to Reading Renaissance and fund the Party in the Park, 1st/2nd grade game night, and the 3rd-6th grade lock-in in the spring for those students who obtain their reading goal.
1st/2nd Grade Game Night: This is a Reading Renaissance event for those 1st/2nd grade students who have obtained their reading goals. These students will have the opportunity to participate in an evening full of games and snacks! Volunteers are needed to help coordinate the event and numerous volunteers are needed the actual evening of the event.
3rd – 6th Grade Lock-In: This is a Reading Renaissance event for those students who have obtained their reading goals. These students will have the opportunity to participate in the annual, highly anticipated lock-in. Several volunteers are needed to coordinate the event and numerous volunteers are needed the night of the event.
Playday: This is a great day to enjoy an all school picnic lunch with your child and then stay for an afternoon of games and activities designed to celebrate the successes of another school year. Volunteers are needed to help with the activities the day of the event.
